Job Summary

The Executive Director of Institutional Advancement and Midland College Foundation is responsible for all development activities. Development for the Midland College Foundation are corporations, private foundations, individuals, and federal/state funding sources. The Executive Director of Institutional Advancement reports to the President and also serves as the Executive Director of the Midland College Foundation, Inc.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree

Must be familiar with major College programs, the Midland College Foundation, corporations, private foundations, individuals, federal/state funding sources and public relations

Competent in the use of applications utilized by the College

Knowledge of general office equipment including computer, email, fax, copier, and telephone system

Effectively manage time and priorities in order to meet established deadlines

Work and communicate effectively with all levels of co-workers and other external contacts

Detail oriented and highly organized

Work in a team environment with multiple, sometimes changing priorities

Strong communication, leadership, and presentation skills

Must possess a valid Texas driver license, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College’s insurance policy

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree or higher

Community college fundraising experience

Supervisory experience

Essential Functions

Work closely with the Midland College Foundation board members to meet goals set for various fundraising campaigns and assist in facilitating other foundation projects and priorities

Maintain public relations for the Midland College Foundation

Formulate and implement a comprehensive plan for development that will help prioritize and enhance efforts to obtain external funding

Administer the Davidson Distinguished Lecture Series and the Phyllis and Bob Cowan Performing Art Series and related events

Seek external funding opportunities from public and private sources for College faculty, staff, and students

Establish contacts with and collect information from funding sources in both the public and private sectors

Perform prospect research and maintain detailed constituent information about individuals, foundation, and business donors

Supervise all Institutional Advancement staff

Serve on Administrative Council as needed

Perform other duties as assigned by the President

Physical Demands

Able to sit or stand for long periods of time

Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds

Ability to work extended hours as needed

Use of manual dexterity

Heavy computer usage

College setting

General office setting

Duties indoors and some outdoors

Attendance at Midland College, Midland College Foundation or community events may be required

Travel for training, meetings, and events both in and out of town

Min Salary Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience
