The National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) is a dynamic and growing non-profit organization dedicated to research, advocacy, and patient and medical education as we work toward a cure for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and support those impacted by psoriatic disease. Headquartered in Portland, OR, NPF is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual as our Gift Officer. The Gift Officer will identify, engage, solicit, cultivate and steward current and prospective donors in expanding their financial support for the Foundation. Additionally, The Gift Officer will work closely with the Director of Major Gifts, CRO and CEO to create individual engagement and solicitation strategies to increase the organization’s philanthropic and in-kind support from individuals and family foundations.
This position can be based remotely, candidate is to reside near a major metropolitan airport to facilitate national travel.
Responsibilities include:

  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward major and planned gift prospects in support of NPF by matching and advancing fundraising priorities with prospective donors’ interests.

  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Major Gifts focused on cultivating and soliciting gifts of $10,000 or greater from individuals with the capacity and propensity of giving.

  • Manage a portfolio of 100-125 major gift prospects and donors; develop and document written cultivation and solicitation strategies and proposals.

  • Meet explicit performance objectives including the completion of between 125-150 personal face-to-face donor meetings annually with assigned prospects and a like number of other actions each month.

  • Secure one-on- one in-person donor meetings and solicitations to establish or strengthen donor relationships for long term support.

  • Maintain donor information through Raiser's Edge, with the assistance of development staff, accurate records of anticipated actions, completed actions, results of constituent contacts, and recommendations or plans for follow-up work.

  • Create and edit donor correspondences such as letters, emails, funding proposals, and reports.

  • Become on expert on NPF’s programmatic needs for the purpose of effective donor stewardship, using available resources and opportunities.

  • Develop, organize and implement major donor cultivation events and activities.

Requirements Include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, non-profit management, business administration or a related field

  • Minimum of three+ years of individual major gift fundraising with proven experience securing significant gifts

  • Highly entrepreneurial, resourceful and flexible

  • Experience working with physicians, scientists and high capacity individuals.

  • Experience supporting big ticket event fundraising

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to manage projects and volunteers.

  • Proficiency in using computers and database programs. Prefer experience with Raiser’s Edge and fundraising software

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with appropriate discretion

  • Previous experience working in a remote setting preferred

  • Ability to travel up to 60% of the time
