Under the direction of the Sr. Director of Individual Giving, the Director of Individual Giving oversees strategic planning & development to raise support for, and advance Habitat for Humanity’s mission by sustaining and growing relationships, leading to leadership level and major gifts, through innovative relationship fundraising best practices. This role is responsible for implementing creative, cutting edge tactics to financially engage individuals in the work of Habitat for Humanity. The Director supervises selected fundraisers and Individual Giving Interns to plan and execute the cultivation, stewardship and personal solicitation of individual donors and prospects, including major and planned gifts. This position will be based at HFHI’s Administrative Headquarters in Atlanta, GA. ACCOUNTABILITY: We take personal responsibility for Habitat’s mission. • Oversee strategic planning & goals in coordination with Sr. Director of Individual Giving. • Supervise selected fundraisers including overseeing their goals, plans, activations, and solicitations. • Direct, build, develop, and launch pilot for the Individual Giving Internship Program. • Execute strategies to identify, research, cultivate and solicit qualified prospects for major gifts in collaboration and cooperation with the Sr. Director of Individual Giving. • Establish and maintain relationships with individual donors and prospects, through personal visits and other forms of direct personal contact in accordance with performance targets set by Sr. Director of Individual Giving. • In coordination with other Director-Individual Giving, manages, recruits, engages, and oversees donors interested in Donor Engagement Trips and provides them with leadership and direction in support of the cultivation and solicitation of major donors and prospects; coordinates their activities to ensure their integration into the organization’s mission. HUMILITY: We are part of something bigger than ourselves. • Serve as a primary team participant in Collaborative Operating Model program • Identify and build subject matter experts within Individual team for restricted priorities. • In coordination with other Director-Individual Giving, collaborate. establish, oversee and grow revenue from Donor Engagement Trips in partnership with other Resource Development Divisions. COURAGE: We do what’s right when it is difficult or unpopular • Prepare & collaborate VP and Sr. Director for face-to-face visits and other activities with donors. • Compassionately and articulately communicate the Habitat story. • In collaboration with the Donor Support Manager, guide the development of compelling proposals, creative presentations and reports. • Provide accurate and timely activity and pipeline reports and revenue forecasts. • Serve as an Individual Giving team captain and leader for Continuous Improvement. • Expands and grows donor base beyond traditional Habitat for Humanity participants. • Provide onboarding Moves Management & Portfolio Management/Effective Practices training to all new Individual Giving Team members. • Work with Global Leadership and Organizational Development on new employee training (fundraising section). DIRECTION & SUPERVISION OF OTHERS: • Selected fundraisers • Donors • Volunteers Minimum Required: • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience • Years of Related Experience: 10+; 5+ years of specific front-line experience in leadership gifts development in a nationwide setting, preferably as part of a nationally deployed team • Ability to build and supervise dynamic, high-performing teams • Demonstrated track record of execution of donor plans with excellence including strategic thinking, proposal development, negotiation with internal leadership to form strong opportunities for donor investment. • Demonstrated track record of successful fundraising in an environment of similar complexity • Ability to engage senior managers and board members, and to earn and maintain their confidence • Successful experience closing complex six-figure commitments including planned gifts, campaign and endowment gifts, and investment options • Superior presentation skills, including the presence to deal effectively with diverse constituencies including principal donors, Board members, national staff and leadership in the field • Ability to collaborate with others in a complex, matrix-structured, dynamic organizational environment • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write and speak clearly and effectively, and to listen, and a capacity to engage, inspire and persuade • Active support of HFHI Values: o Humility – We are part of something bigger than ourselves o Courage – We do what’s right, even when it is difficult or unpopular o Accountability – We take personal responsibility for Habitat’s mission • Safeguarding: HFHI requires that all employees take seriously their ethical responsibilities to safeguarding our intended beneficiaries, their communities, and all those with whom we work.
