Africatown Community Land Trust (ACLT) seeks a highly organized Human Resources Generalist to provide office management and administrative to Africatown operation. ABOUT US

Africatown Community Land Trust is working for community ownership of land in the Central District. This can support the cultural and economic thriving of people who are part of the African diaspora in the Greater Seattle area. The Africatown Community Land Trust board is comprised of real estate professionals, business executives, entrepreneurs, business professionals and long-time community members from the Central District.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Human Resource position provides administrative, compliance, employee relations to the operations support for organizational effectiveness. Responsibilities include recruiting and hiring, employee relations, payroll, compliance, reviewing and preparing confidential correspondence, reports, and presentations. This position requires savvy technical skills sophistication in Microsoft suite, Google Suite, filing and time management strategies, flexibility and problem-solving skills and basic knowledge of information technology. Some evening hours are required.


Typical duties of this position are as follow:

 

Recruitment & Hiring

  • Recruit candidates, coordinate interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions.
  • Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

Employee Relations

  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Track completion of workplans and evaluations.

Compliance

  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Provide coaching to leadership team members to identify and mitigate risk for the organization.
  • Ensure proper recordkeeping for online and hardcopy files.

Program and Projects

  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
