Assistant Director of Giving and Engagement

Responsible for developing and implementing plans that strategically utilize the telephone and additional forms of media to engage and raise money from constituents. Utilizing the telephone and media, responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding affinity groups at Loras; this includes graduates of the last decade (GOLD), St. Joseph Society (leadership donors), Parents, reunions and other groups that have yet to be identified. Engagement will be a hybrid position between annual giving and alumni relations. The assistant director of giving and engagement will be responsible for making a minimum 100-150 calls per week and collectively with students, director of annual giving and development officers, will make 10,000 phone calls yearly. The goal of the new hybrid position between advancement and alumni relations is to connect and engage constituents to Loras College by attending events, staying up to date on the College and making annual contributions. In this capacity, individual will report to the Director of Annual Giving at Loras College.

Essential Functions related Assistant Director of Giving and Engagement

  • In coordination with Director of Annual Giving, Stewardship Coordinator and Assistant Director of Alumni Relations, recruit students to make solicitation, stewardship and event recruitment phone calls throughout the year.
  • In coordination with the Director of Annual Giving and Assistant Director of Alumni, develop communications plan and outreach of students to educate, excite and engage philanthropy at Loras College.
  • Expected to work strategically and creatively with social media, text messaging and email to ensure constituents have an inviting experience that motivates them to "answer the call."
  • In coordination with Director of Annual Giving, develops and implements phonathon outreach plan. This individual will be the primary phonathon lead and will conduct a minimum of 100-150 phone calls per week.
  • In coordination with Director of Annual Giving, develops and implements phonathon outreach plan. This individual will be the student-driven phonathon lead which will conduct a minimum of 10,000 phone calls per year.
  • In coordination with Director of Annual Giving, develops and implements plan to develop, cultivate, solicit and steward affinity groups.
  • In coordination with Director of Annual Giving, establishes fiscal year goals and objectives for phonathon and affinity group efforts.
  • Educates development team members about efforts to maximize results.
  • Monitors all prospect contacts to ensure positive and purposeful prospect and donor relations.
  • Expected to assist in meeting and exceeding fundraising goals as set forth by the Director of Annual Giving. Work effectively with the Alumni and Annual Giving areas on mutually beneficial programs.
  • In collaboration with advancement and alumni, will need to be data-minded and be able to utilize data to make data-driven decisions in an effort to effectively connect with constituents.
  • Supports the mission and vision of the College and respects the College's Catholic tradition.

Education: Bachelor's degree from a four year college or university in any field.

Experience: Minimum of two to three years of experience in fundraising or customer service is preferred.


Other Requirements: Good Knowledge of computer programs relating to fund-raising activities. Ability to organize trips with appointments, present effective oral and written reports and travel extensively.

Highly organized with the ability to multi-task effectively. Good decision making skills, tactful, good listener. Knowledge of fundraising.
