We currently have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as our next Marketing and Development Specialist.
Position Summary:
The Marketing and Development Specialist will help create and share the story of Goodwill of Central Iowa across digital and print platforms. This position will be responsible for advertising and marketing Goodwill to various audiences, designing promotional materials, upkeep of various social media platforms, and developing multimedia content, including photo, video, and written copy. This position is also responsible for supporting Goodwill’s fundraising efforts in support of the identification, cultivation, and stewardship of donors. This includes grant writing and database management.

Essential Marketing Functions:
  • Collaborates with various Goodwill team members to develop and post content for website, newsletters, blogs and social media such as Facebook, LinkedIn or others.
  • Leads multi-departmental projects, from concept to completion and measurement.
  • Executes photography and video for special events, store promotions and general marketing needs.
  • Partner with Retail department to create, maintain and update store signage including price changes, digital signage, special promotion materials, policy and procedure signs and seasonal signage changes.
  • Supports Goodwill website growth with keyword research, A/B testing, landing page optimization, and other digital marketing tactics and strategies.
  • Supports strategic marketing priorities by tracking metrics.
  • Provides back-up receptionist support to the Administrative Assistant.
Essential Development Functions:
  • Research and identify funding opportunities for private and foundation grants.
  • Write and submit with quality, timeliness, and attention to detail, and ensure accurate and timely grant reporting.
  • Work with finance and internal departments to gather information necessary to prepare grant proposals and report on current funded grant projects.
  • Maintain donor records in donor database and report on event progress.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in marketing, communications, journalism, or a closely related field.
  • A team player with a positive personality and eagerness for problem-solving.
  • Detail-oriented, ability to handle multiple projects at once.
  • Design, photography, and video experience preferred (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
  • Experience with WordPress and HTML preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to think both creatively and analytically.
  • Practical communication skills and flexibility to handle the unexpected.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
