Administrative Assistant (Temporary) Mental Health Services for Short-Term Acute Residential Treatment (START) Program

Hours: 40 hours per week; 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday. The duration of this temporary position is four months with benefits.

Program Overview:

Located in south San Diego, CA,Del Sur Crisis Centerprovides intensive, community-based crisis residential services for adults throughout South San Diego County. We deliver a unique alternative to psychiatric hospitalization to clients who are suffering a psychiatric crisis of such magnitude so as not to be manageable on an outpatient basis. Our services are provided in a home-like environment that specializes in the psychosocial rehabilitation of each individual.

Built around a bio-psychosocial approach, our multi-disciplinary team addresses each aspect of a clients unique situation, including mental health, co-occurring substance abuse, housing, medical/medication needs, and establishing connections to social service supports within the community to facilitate successful transition beyond the START program.

Typical Duties of the Administrative Assistant

The Administrative Assistant supports the Office Manager and/or Program Director to ensure the office operates efficiently and effectively. Performs a variety of clerical tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Duties include:

  • Full-service clerical and reception duties including greeting visitors, answering phones and screening calls, taking messages, typing, filing, scheduling meetings, opening and distributing mail and performing data entry
  • Assists with front office management and operations as directed
  • May assist with preparation of medical records
  • May audit medical records for adherence to billing requirements
  • Reporting and tracking information for program management
  • Menu development and food shopping (Food Bank, Smart & Final, etc.)
  • Works collaboratively with all other members of the program team

Qualifications/Skills Requirement

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • One year experience in customer service in a fast-paced environment
  • First Aid/CPR certification is required and must be kept current during employment
  • Excellent phone etiquette, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and maintain confidentiality required
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, Excel applications, as well as internet research skills required
  • Previous experience in a similar mental health program serving the population is desirable
  • A valid California drivers license in good standing and eligibility to be an approved CRF driver is required to fulfill the essential functions of this position. In addition, proof of insurance is required prior to driving personal vehicles on company business
  • Must be able to pass criminal/background clearance
