Tobacco Coalition Director (Part time) - Remote

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) is the nation's leading cancer advocacy organization. Together with our charitable partner, the American Cancer Society, we work in Congress, state legislatures and local jurisdictions to support evidence-based policy and legislative solutions designed to eliminate cancer as a major health problem. Based in Washington, DC with offices throughout the country, ACS CAN works to encourage elected officials and candidates to make cancer a top national priority.

Tobacco remains the largest preventable cause of death in the United States, leading to the deaths of approximately 480,000 people annually. Tobacco Free Mass is an independent coalition supported by our members and sponsors that advocates for legislation, policies and programs that counteract the tobacco industry’s impact on the people of Massachusetts, focusing on those most affected by tobacco use and its harms. Tobacco Free Mass carries out its mission with the help of more than fifty member organizations and with dedicated partners and advocates from across the Commonwealth.

The Tobacco Coalition Director will be a high-energy, well-organized individual that will lead Tobacco Free Mass, a dynamic statewide tobacco policy advocacy coalition, in continuing to fulfill its mission of reducing tobacco and nicotine use and exposure to secondhand smoke in Massachusetts through education, advocacy and policy promotion.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Coalition Director will center the voices and perspectives of Black, Indigenous and People of Color.
